3) WWE’s Plan For Taping Shows
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is going to be taping all of their brands separately at the WWE Performance Center. This is in order to protect employees during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Here is what Meltzer wrote:
The WWE plans to progress forward after having a bevvy of positive COVID-19 test spike up. The decision as of now is to keep all the brands separate and recorded chronologically. This is much more time consuming, but they don’t want to risk mixing more people up with one another than they have to.
One matter that comes with some risk is still having the same fans being used at all shows, but the talent in the crowd will be tested at every show.
My Take:
- This seems smart by WWE. Before this, we heard that they were taping all of their shows at the same time. This will hopefully help limit the spread within the company.
2) Why Brock Lesnar Hasn’t Returned To WWE Television
Brock Lesnar’s last match came back at Wrestlemania 36, where he dropped the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre. According to journalist Tom Colohue, WWE doesn’t want Brock working matches at the WWE Performance Center right now.
This is in order to protect Brock’s larger than life image. Here is what Colohue had to say:
That said, when it comes to working at the Performance Center, they really don’t want Brock working there. It really doesn’t help the image that he is the larger than life, an larger than WWE character when there is no one there to cheer or boo, and also, one of the big deals that the love with Brock is that he gets both cheered and booed.
My Take:
- I actually think that this makes a lot of sense. Love or hate him, Brock is a guy who should be protected. I would save his return for when there are fans back.
