Rumor Roundup: The Possible Plans For Drew McIntyre’s Title Reign, WWE Roster Shake-Up Plans, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) The Original Plans For A WWE Roster Shake-Up

According to journalist Tom Colohue, WWE was originally planning a big roster shake-up before the COVID-19 pandemic happened. This would have included NXT stars moving to RAW and Smackdown. It would have also involved some main roster stars going back to NXT.

Here is what Colohue said:

The original plan was to have a full shakeup post WrestleMania with a number of NXT members moving across to RAW and SmackDown and some lesser-used members of those rosters spending some time in NXT. But due to COVID-19, this was canceled and a number of quiet moves were made with this in mind.

My Take:

  • I am now wondering if WWE will do another shake-up over the next few months or if they will wait until October and do another full-blown draft. My gut says another draft but we will have to wait and see.

4) More On The Recent WWE Releases

On the Wrestling Observer forums, Dave Meltzer spoke about the recent releases from WWE. He says that the releases were all decisions that were made by Vince McMahon. Vince made the decisions himself and didn’t tell Bruce Prichard or Paul Heyman until after the fact.

Here is what Meltzer wrote:

“These cuts were all Vince. In the end, all cuts are, but these were not cuts asked for and rubber stamped by Vince, these were Vince cuts who then came to others after and told them. Nobody even got names until after Vince made the decisions. Perhaps Paul & Bruce could have argued, and perhaps they did and perhaps they didn’t because you have to be very careful picking your spots. But when it comes to guys Vince had buyers remorse on the size of the deal, they weren’t changing his mind.”

My Take:

  • That sounds like the Vince McMahon that we all know and love. This doesn’t surprise me at all.
