3) Rey Mysterio’s Future
According to a report from WrestlingNews.co, Rey Mysterio is set to become a free agent in a few months.
The site says that Mysterio’s WWE contract will be expiring in September:
Several months ago, I noted that Rey Mysterio had the option to leave WWE if he chose to exercise the opt-out clause in his contract.
Mysterio did not exercise that option so his contract is now due to expire this fall, sometime around September. He signed a two-year deal in September 2018 with an opt-out option after the first 18 months. The reason why he chose to sign a short contract rather was because he wanted to keep his options open and he wanted to see how his body would hold up.
It is interesting to note that he has not agreed to terms on a new deal so, unless something gets signed in the next few months, he could be a free agent and he could sign with another company. WWE has already begun talks with him about signing a new contract.
My Take:
- A lot of fans will suggest AEW but I think Mysterio is someone who is going to stay with WWE. After he retires, I could see him becoming a trainer at the WWE Performance Center to help out Dominick.
2) Corey Graves Thinking About Returning To The Ring?
A few weeks ago, Corey Graves said that he was inspired by Edge’s recent return to the ring. Graves said that Edge inspired him to think about his own future since he was medically disqualified from wrestling due to head injuries.
Corey Graves’ brother, Sam Adonis, posted some new footage of them training together. This will certainly add some fuel to the fire of the rumors that Graves could be coming back to the ring:
My Take:
- I would not mind seeing Graves in the odd match. I think he is a good commentator though and should keep that job full-time.
