Rumor Roundup: The Plans For AJ Styles & Omos, Bobby Lashley’s Future, More

3) WWE’s New Hiring Policy

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is now focused on looks when signing new female talent.

Here is what Meltzer said:

“The idea for women and guys is different. For guys, they’re wanting bigger athletes. For women, it’s looks, or if you have something unique to offer. Even on the indie thing, if someone’s like, really super on the indies, it’s not like WWE won’t hire them, but they’re not looking at the 5’9” guys or the 5’7” guys anymore. But if you come from the Indies but you’re 6’3”, yeah, they’ll look at you, and if you’re a woman and you’re ‘good looking’, you know, whatever.”

My Take:

  • Seems like a step backwards for WWE.

2) Update On Alberto Del Rio

According to Sean Ross Sapp on Twitter, people in WWE say that the company has no interest in bringing back Alberto Del Rio. This is the same for other promotions.

Here is what Sapp wrote:

I’ve spoken with people from WWE, MLW, Impact who say they either have no interest in bringing Del Rio in or would be shocked if it happens.

AEW talent I’ve spoken to say they’ve never heard him mentioned as even possibly coming in.

My Take:

  • Smart decision by all companies. He doesn’t seem worth the problems.
