5) WWE’s New Mask Policy Causes Confusion Backstage
According to a report from Ringside News, WWE’s new mask policy is causing a lot of confusion backstage.
Here is what the site wrote about the situation:
It is said that a $500 fine will be handed out for the first offense, and it will be a $1,000 fine each time afterward. They must wear a mask, but there isn’t much clarification on the new rule.
Superstars tried to find Mark Carrano to get answers and clarification, but we were told “no one could get to him.” It was additionally told to us that Bruce Prichard wasn’t answering questions about it either.
One WWE employee told Ringside News that “asking Bruce Prichard for an answer is a waste of time because he either doesn’t know, or doesn’t want people to know, because he can blame the confusion on someone else.”
Everyone backstage at the Performance Center are wearing masks because they don’t want to get fined, but nobody will answer questions about the fines. It was described to us as a “leaderless” scenario and “same theme, different day.”
My Take:
- I am just happy that they implemented a policy because it should help lessen the spread of the virus within the company.
4) Backstage Concern Among The WWE Locker Room
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there are some people in WWE who are concerned that other Superstars are not taking the COVID-19 pandemic seriously enough.
Here is what Meltzer wrote about the situation:
Some have noted that a major issue to some talent is how other talent is not taking it seriously enough. One person noted to us that they basically go to work, and to the store, and that’s it, while others are out at bars hanging out with no masks in close quarters, or boats, or hot tubs, crowded beaches, or gyms, with the risk they can get it, and bring it in the room. At the same time, the profession does call for people to have to be in the gym, in particular the women, because of how they are costumed and what they are judged by, but really everyone on WWE television has to train, and the women in particular can make a lot of money on Instagram with constantly putting up new photos.
My Take:
- Roman Reigns has made some similar comments, saying that he doesn’t trust his co-workers to take the pandemic as seriously as him. I agree with him and that is likely why so many people recently tested positive in the company.
