Rumor Roundup: The Original Plans For The Elimination Chamber, Big WWE Women’s Signing, More

1) The Original Plans For The Elimination Chamber Match

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE was originally planning for Roman Reigns to defend his Universal Title inside of the Elimination Chamber structure.

The company changed its mind and decided for Reigns to face the winner of the Chamber match instead (on the same night). Here is what Meltzer said:

“It’s a way to get heat on Reigns. Originally, Reigns was going to be in the chamber match. That was the original idea and then I guess they didn’t want to do it on both shows or something. Whatever…they wanted to tweak it, so they tweaked it.”

My Take:

  • This does make sense as a way to generate some extra heel heat on Roman. It also makes sense to extend the feud with whoever wins the Chamber match into the Fastlane PPV next month. I don’t mind this at all.
