Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.
5) USA Network Unhappy About WWE Creative Change
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the USA Network is unhappy with WWE for taking Paul Heyman off the RAW creative team.
Here is what Meltzer had to say:
I mean as far as the two stations I know that USA was unhappy with the change — very unhappy by the way. I don’t think that they were happy with the ratings, but they understood the ratings. They were told this would be a building process and the understood that.”
My Take:
- I don’t blame the USA Network for being upset. They paid a lot of money for RAW and the ratings have been dipping badly over the past several weeks. They were likely promised Heyman as a long-term fix.
4) Match Originally Planned For Summerslam
According to a report from Ringside News, the rematch between Edge and Randy Orton was originally scheduled for Summerslam.
WWE decided to rush the plans for this match and move it to Backlash instead:
Ringside News has learned that Edge vs Randy Orton was initially scheduled to take place during SummerSlam. Vince McMahon decided to jump the gun on the match due to the current situation going on within the company.
Our source indicated that reports about McMahon switching up plans after COVID-19 are accurate. This caused Vince McMahon to change directions and rely on veteran Superstars.
Our source in the company stated that “Vince lost patience with the building of new stars and just wanted to use the star power of the people who were established.”
My Take:
- I could see this make sense as Heyman was big on trying to build new stars. I could see Vince McMahon looking at the ratings and deciding that he needs to go back to his established stars.
