Rumor Roundup: The Big Plans For After Summerslam, Adam Cole’s Future, More

3) The USA Network Was Behind The Recent Change Made On NXT

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, it was the USA Network who made the call to do Keith Lee vs Adam Cole with limited commercial breaks.

Here is what Meltzer said:

“This was a lot less commercials than the last week even. I mean it was very clear that this show from the NXT side was all about winning and not about making money you know as far as — I shouldn’t say NXT. It’s USA Network that makes that call. So USA Network really wanted a win.”

My Take:

  • Lee vs Cole was a really fun match. I would definitely like to see it again. They made the right call with the limited commercials as it likely stopped some viewers from jumping over to AEW.

2) The Current Status Of Mustafa Ali

According to a report from Ringside News, Mustafa Ali wanted to move to RAW in order to work under Paul Heyman. With Heyman no longer in charge of RAW, it has left Ali in limbo.

Here is what the site wrote about Ali:

Ringside News has learned that Mustafa Ali was moved over to Raw at his request. We were told by a current WWE writer close to the situation that Ali wanted to be switched brands because “he was tired of being ignored by Bruce (Prichard) and Ed (Koskey).”

Mustafa Ali went to Vince McMahon and asked to be switched over to Raw because at the time, under Paul Heyman, Raw was building to the future with new stars. According to our source, Vince McMahon then rejected every idea for Ali’s hacker storyline that Heyman and the Raw creative team pitched to him.

It was described to us as Mustafa Ali, who is well liked by the roster, being “stuck in limbo.” Vince McMahon’s new philosophy of not waiting to build new Superstars and only pushing those who are already established did not play to Mustafa Ali’s favor either.

My Take:

  • I am a big Ali fan and I think that he should be used more on television. The dude is talented and I hope that things change for him.
