Rumor Roundup: The Backstage Attitude About Wrestlemania 36, WWE-Wembley Stadium, More

3) The Original Plans For The Undertaker’s Boneyard Match Entrance

What Culture has recently posted an article that shares some behind-the-scenes tidbits about the ‘Boneyard match’ between AJ Styles and The Undertaker.

The article claims that WWE had different plans for The Undertaker’s entrance for the match. Here is an excerpt from the article:

That kick ass arrival scene for The Undertaker was almost very different. It would’ve still included Metallica’s ‘Now That We’re Dead’ track, but it wouldn’t have happened in the same location.

WWE officials wanted to use an abandoned ditch, bridge and roadside to herald ‘Taker’s biking bad ass arrival for the match, but the production crew warned them it was city property. They didn’t have a permit to shoot there, and there wasn’t enough time to secure one let alone build sets.

So, WWE pivoted and decided to use ground that wouldn’t land them in legal hot water. That was a smart decision, and it’s hardly like anyone watching was complaining when Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield’s dirging riffs blared over the screen on the Network.

My Take:

  • I thought that the ‘Boneyard match’ was perfect and I wouldn’t change a thing. Actually, I am upset that we didn’t get to hear the Limp Bizkit version of ‘Taker’s entrance theme.

2) The Undertaker Retiring?

Speaking of the Undertaker, fans are starting to speculate that he is planning to retire at the end of the year.

This speculation is based on The Undertaker’s new show, called ‘The Last Ride’. He also teased retirement on Instagram after Wrestlemania 36. Here is what he posted:

It was a hell of a ride! #BoneyardMatch #WrestleMania #30years

My Take:

  • To me, it would make a ton of sense for The Undertaker to finish his career at Survivor Series. That will be 30 years since his WWE debut and would be the perfect place for him to officially hang up the boots.
