Rumor Roundup: Backstage Reaction To Samoa Joe On Commentary, Top Free Agent Not Coming To WWE, More

3) The Upcoming Plans For Seth Rollins

We noted in a previous rumor round-up that WWE was advertising Seth Rollins vs Erick Rowan for some upcoming live events. This was a potential hint that WWE was planning a feud between them.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer says that as of this week, the idea is to put Rowan and Rollins together in a program on RAW.

Things can always change in WWE but with Rollins out of the WWE Title picture, it looks like a feud with Rowan is coming up for him.

2) What WWE Told Jerry Lawler To Change About His Commentary

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the feeling backstage is that Jerry Lawler has been better than expected on commentary. Lawler’s experience has helped Vic Joseph get more comfortable in his new role (as the lead announcer).

Meltzer also noted that WWE asked Lawler to make a change to his commentary. Here is what Meltzer wrote:

The only real direction with Lawler was a push to stay away from dated cultural reference since the idea for Raw right now is to target younger viewers and push new stars.
