Rumor Roundup: Plans Scrapped For Aleister Black, Superstars Unhappy About Extra Training, More

3) Backstage Note On Lana’s Release From WWE

Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select (subscribe here), provided some additional details about Lana’s release from WWE.

Here is what Sapp wrote:

More details on Lana’s time with WWE emerged to Fightful in the days following her released, and it would be noted that if Lana didn’t have anything going on, it wasn’t for lack of her trying. We’ve heard several stories about how she (and Naomi) would follow up about their creative and constantly try to ensure they were doing something. There were significantly different plans for Lana earlier this year before Charlotte’s return, but we’re told that Vince McMahon personally assured her that wouldn’t be the end of the Lana character and they’d have more for her.

My Take:

  • I was definitely surprised that Lana was let go from the company. My guess is that she will join her husband in AEW.

2) Backstage Note About Summerslam

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, WWE is planning for Summerslam to end early so fans in Las Vegas can also watch the Manny Pacquiao vs Errol Spence fight on PPV. That will be taking place on the same night in Las Vegas.

Here is what Johnson wrote:

As noted earlier, WWE made their official announcement on NBC that Summerslam will be in Las Vegas on 8/21.  In asking around, we are told WWE is very well aware that the same evening, Manny Pacquiao is fighting Errol Spence Jr. on PPV, also from Vegas.  We are told that WWE’s plan is to conclude Summerslam with enough time for fans to be able to attend the Pacquiao fight in the same city if they choose or to be able to watch Pacquiao’s fight pn PPV after WWE’s broadcast concludes.

My Take:

  • Summerslam being on a Saturday is going to feel weird. It would be a super fun event to attend though in Las Vegas if you could get there.
