Rumor Roundup: Plans For The Undertaker’s Character, Why Goldberg Beat The Fiend, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around. Make sure to take rumors with a grain of salt as always.

5) Why Goldberg Beat The Fiend

Wrestlezone has a new report out that gives the alleged reason why Goldberg defeated The Fiend at WWE Super Showdown.

The report suggests that it was Goldberg’s idea because he didn’t want to risk damaging his image. Here is an excerpt from their report:

We were told that Goldberg going over was a last-minute decision, apparently because Goldberg didn’t want to risk damaging his image. It was noted that Goldberg bargained for creative control and pushed for the title win because “The Fiend” was a monster and the younger fans needed to see him come out victorious, or it would ruin his character.

Goldberg has been open in the past about believing kids saw him as a superhero, and it appears he felt keeping the mystique alive was critical this time around as well. Furthermore, it was explained that Bray eventually agreed to put him over, which might have gained him some more favor with the locker room. As far as when we could see Goldberg back in a WWE ring, that might not happen for a long time, if at all.

My Take:

  • Goldberg is a legend but I have no real interest in seeing any more matches from him. They just don’t excite me anymore. I respect him but I wouldn’t be upset if Wrestlemania 36 was his final match.

4) Backstage Reaction To Roman Reigns Pulling Out Of Wrestlemania 36

Wrestletalk is reporting that WWE officials have been very accepting of Roman Reigns’ decision to pull out of Wrestlemania 36. This comes after some false speculation started to circulate that Vince McMahon was mad at Reigns for his decision.

Here is an excerpt from their report:

However, Louis Dangoor can also reveal that WWE higher-ups, including Vince McMahon himself, was very accepting of Roman Reigns’ decision to miss the show, especially given his history with leukemia.

My Take:

  • I never really bought into the speculation that anyone would be mad at Reigns. You would have to be really dumb to get upset at someone for not wanting to put their health at risk. I am glad to hear that nobody is mad at him.
