3) Uncertainty Among The WWE Locker Room
WWE has gone back to airing their episodes of RAW, Smackdown, and NXT live. This came as a surprise to many since we are in the middle of a global pandemic and WWE has been taping their shows over the past few weeks.
According to @Wrestlevotes, there was a lot of uncertainty backstage at RAW this week and many knew that they shouldn’t be there. Here is what the account Tweeted:
My Take:
- I don’t blame anyone in WWE from feeling uneasy about the situation. It is a mess all around.
2) More On The XFL-WWE Relationship
Many people were confused when it was revealed that WWE owns 23.5 percent of the Class B stock in the XFL. This is because Vince McMahon had previously said that WWE and the XFL would be completely separate.
According to a report from Pro Football Talk, WWE received equity in the XFL without actually paying for it:
Relevant SEC filings made by WWE reveal that the company received equity in the XFL at no payment or other financial obligation, as apparent consideration for granting McMahon the authority to launch the XFL via a separate entity, Alpha Entertainment LLC.
Still, the equity interest contradicts McMahon’s claim that there would be no crossover with WWE. Obviously, there was. But it cost WWE nothing — which is good because it may end up being worth nothing, too.
My Take:
- I have to say that it sucks for the XFL as it felt like they had a solid first few weeks. The on-field product was actually better than I was expecting and I was interested to see how it goes.
