Rumor Roundup: Original Plans For The WWE Draft, Cliffhanger Idea, More

3) Backstage Note On Austin Theory

According to Ringside News, WWE is said to have big plans for Austin Theory on the WWE main roster.

Here is what the site wrote:

Ringside News was told by a tenured member of the creative team that WWE has “big plans for Austin Theory.” It was not noted exactly what those plans entail, but he is a heel on the red brand now.

My Take:

  • I am interested to see if this comes to fruition. I could see Theory doing well or being in the 24/7 title scene in a few months. We will have to wait and see.

2) Original Idea Planned For RAW

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, WWE was considering a cliffhanger for the first night of the WWE Draft. Bobby Lashley was originally going to be selected first by RAW, with fans having to wait and see which brand Big E would be selected to on day two.

Here is what Johnson wrote:

The original plan for this past Friday’s Draft was that the #1 Draft Pick for Raw was to have been Bobby Lashley with the idea that viewers would have to see where Big E, the WWE Champion, would land on Monday, especially after the remainder of New Day was drafted to Smackdown.  That cliffhanger idea was dropped over the course of the day this past Friday with Big E replacing Lashley as Raw’s top draft pick.  Lashley was instead drafted on Raw.

My Take:

  • I think they made the right call. They told fans that Big E is on the same level as Roman Reigns, which is what they should have done.
