Rumor Roundup: New NXT Show That Was Discussed, Backstage Frustration In WWE, More

1) New NXT Show That Was Discussed

According to a report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select (subscribe here), WWE was discussing a new show for NXT before the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

This would have been called ‘NXT Underground’ but it wouldn’t have been the same concept as ‘RAW Underground’, despite the similar names. Here is what Sapp wrote:

There was a pilot for the event shot at the WWE Performance Center in Summer 2019, which would have been the setting of the event. We’re told it has long been a Ryan Katz project.

It was also noted that this show would feature Superstars who don’t get used on NXT and even some talent from EVOLVE.

My Take:

  • My guess is that WWE just morphed this into ‘RAW Underground’ since we have seen a lot of talent from the WWE Performance Center featured. It will be interesting to see though if anything else comes out of this in a few months.
