3) WWE Planning A Special Event In India?
During WWE’s recent call with investors, a special event in India was teased. This tease came from WWE’s new President and Chief Revenue Officer, Nick Khan.
Here is what Khan said:
“We’re excited to now be working with our content partner in India, Sony, on a 2021 event that will primarily feature our developing Indian superstars.
“That event will air in India on the Sony platforms and will also be distributed domestically in the United States. We believe partnerships like this are the best way to build engagement and to maximize the value of content for our international distribution partners and our fans.”
My Take:
- I am also expecting Jinder Mahal to receive a push when he does return from injury. It would make sense if WWE is making another push in WWE.
2) Update On WWE’s Plans For Drew McIntyre
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Drew McIntyre has been discussed for a potential match against Tyson Fury.
Fury has not yet committed to a date for that potential match. If it happens, it is likely for one of WWE’s shows in Saudi Arabia. Here is what Meltzer wrote:
McIntyre has also been discussed for a major match with boxing world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, which both have pushed in social media. We were told this week that Fury has not committed to a date for that. With Saudi Arabia not announced for later this year yet, due to COVID, that would have been the most likely place for such a bout.
My Take:
- I don’t know if I really want to see Fury vs McIntyre. It will be massive for the career of McIntyre but it will likely be a bad match.
