Rumor Roundup: More WWE Titles Being Renamed? The Original Plans For The Top Storyline On RAW, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) The Original Plans For The Top Storyline On RAW

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Rey Mysterio was originally planned to join Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe in their current storyline. Owens and Joe are currently feuding with Seth Rollins’ new faction, which includes The AOP and Buddy Murphy.

It turns out that WWE’s original plan was for Mysterio to join them after his ladder match (which still could be the case). Here is what Meltzer said:

I don’t know if this is going to happen, I know it was the original plan, was now that Rey lost the ladder match, Rey would join in there with Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens against the AOP and Seth. If Buddy Murphy’s in there, they can add Aleister Black in there, because Aleister Black and Buddy Murphy had a natural programme and that kind of gets a lot of guys in sort of a main event programme.

My Take:

  • Rollins, Murphy, and The AOP vs Owens, Joe, Mysterio, and Black sounds like a great match for an upcoming episode of RAW. It would make sense for Mysterio to join this feud because it looks like he is now finished with Andrade.

4) The Latest On Edge

Edge came out and downplayed the rumors that he is returning to the ring for one more match. Mike Johnson of PWinsider is doubling down on his belief that Edge is coming back soon.

Here is what Johnson said (h/t to Ringside News for the quotes below):

“I believe he is returning to the ring he has actually signed a contract with the company. He actually signed that new contract after a little flirtation with All Elite Wrestling and we have heard that there is a pretty high upside and we’ve been told that there is a pretty high upside to people that we’ve spoken to wrestlers or otherwise in WWE say that Adam Copeland will return to the ring this year as a special attraction and he will be competing for WWE.”

“The Royal Rumble makes the most sense for him to return and make a big splash headed into WrestleMania season even if he’s gonna be a major attraction at the February 27th Saudi Arabia show.”

“I’ve asked around and no one has told me that they have heard of Adam Copeland going to the Rumble. I stand by what I have previously stated that I believe we will see him on WWE programming and I’m gonna leave it at that.”

My Take:

  • I would love to see Edge back. I would also love to see him feud with Seth Rollins. My fingers are crossed.
