Rumor Roundup: More Terms That WWE Is Banning, WWE Holding Off On Retirement Match, More

3) WWE Has A Lot Of Trust In Smackdown Superstar

According to Tom Colohue, WWE has a lot of trust in King Corbin. Corbin has become one of the most trusted guys backstage for WWE management.

Here is what Colohue wrote:

I’ve mentioned before, there is a lot of trust in Baron Corbin to make sure that whatever he does is very clear cut, very clinical, and very trusted. He always delivers. So he’s very much getting to that old-pro level already.

My Take:

  • This makes sense as Corbin is always in top programs. He just started feuding with Gronk, which tells me that we are getting Gronk vs Corbin at some point. It shows how much WWE trusts Corbin if they are going to have him in the ring with Gronk in one of his first matches.

2) Concern In Japan About WWE

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the concern is growing in Japan about WWE coming into the country. Due to the weakened economy, WWE will be able to attract some top talent if they start NXT Japan later this year.

Here is what he wrote:

In Japan, there is more concern about WWE coming in with an NXT outpost than ever before. The feeling is that every company is weakened economically and WWE with its guaranteed TV money isn’t hurt nearly as bad. This was an unforeseen situation but from a timing standpoint, if the move is made later this year, WWE has a better chance at getting a higher level of Japanese talent

My Take:

  • It will be interesting to see if a WWE brand in Japan would be successful. I am sure that WWE will try to establish the brand by the end of the year.
