Rumor Roundup: Moment Scrapped From The Royal Rumble, Changed Plans For Cesaro, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) WWE Changed Up Their Plans For Cesaro

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE originally planned for Cesaro to be in the spot that Shinsuke Nakamura was in a few weeks ago. For those who missed it, Nakamura had a great showing in the gauntlet match a few weeks ago, only to be screwed over in the end. It turns out that WWE originally planned this moment for Cesaro.

Here is what Meltzer wrote:

The gauntlet match that Adam Pearce won on SmackDown, the babyface star making spot of running through the field and then getting screwed at the end was an idea of [Daniel] Bryan, and his pick for the spot was Cesaro. However, since Cesaro hadn’t signed yet, it was switched to [Shinsuke] Nakamura, so Cesaro was going to be the face originally. But even if some thought Nakamura got over in that match, and without live fans there’s really no way to know, since he was a replacement, the plan wasn’t to follow up much which is why he’s basically in the same spot, only on the face side.”

My Take:

  • I hope that WWE comes back to this idea because I would love to see Cesaro vs Roman Reigns at a PPV. That could be a lot of fun.

4) Backstage Feeling About Lars Sullivan

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, there was a backstage feeling in the WWE locker room that Vince McMahon would never look at Lars Sullivan the same after the adult video surfaced from his past. For those who missed it, Lars was released by WWE last week.

Here is what Sapp wrote:

When an adult video of Lars Sullivan made the rounds, we were constantly reiterated by WWE officials that it would have no bearing on his push, and there was no heat on him as a result. However, wrestlers told us that there was no way Vince McMahon would look at him the same again after the video released. Sullivan had been a favorite of McMahon’s upon his call-up in 2019.

My Take:

  • I can’t say that I am going to miss watching Lars on a weekly basis but I do wish him luck on whatever comes next for him.
