3) Backstage Note On Bray Wyatt’s Release
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there was a lot of shock from companies who WWE works with after Bray Wyatt’s release. This is due to Bray being such a strong merchandise seller for the company.
Here is what Meltzer wrote:
Companies WWE does business with noted being shocked because he was both a major merchandise seller and companies that license WWE merchandise noted he was one of the best sellers there as well. Those who do business with WWE get no advance notice of these things, but when talent is released they have to pull them from their line, whether it be merchandise, toys, action figures or the video game and it can be frustrating with the characters that are movers, which he was.
My Take:
- I am still surprised they let him go. I could see Bray having a lot of success wherever he goes next.
2) Backstage Note On Adam Cole
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE and Adam Cole have not agreed to a long-term contract extension. His verbal agreement with WWE is up after Summerslam.
Here is what Meltzer wrote:
Upon learning that Cole’s deal was up, WWE gained a verbal agreement with Cole. We’re told shortly after that he actually did sign a short-term extension to through Summerslam weekend. Until this, we’d not had confirmation he’d put pen to paper on the extension.
My Take:
- Adam Cole is going to get himself paid, that is for sure.
