Rumor Roundup: Internal Talk About Roman Reigns, Superstar To Receive A Big Push On RAW, More

3) Vince McMahon Is Determined To Have A Live Crowd For Summerslam

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that Vince McMahon is determined to have a live crowd at Summerslam this year. There is a problem though. The event is scheduled (for Boston) in August and the mayor of Boston has canceled all events in the city until September.

It was noted that if waiting until September is the only way for WWE to have the event in front of a live crowd, then the feeling is that Vince would make that move.

Meltzer also noted that Vince sees the current pandemic as “something inconvenient.”

My Take:

  • It would obviously be ideal if things got back to normal by August and we could attend wrestling events again. We will have to wait and see but I am not getting my hopes up yet.

2) No Concrete Plan To Keep PPV Events Short

There were some rumors after Money in the Bank that WWE was considering shortening all of their PPV events until the coronavirus pandemic is over. This came after many fans praised WWE for keeping the Money in the Bank PPV short.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it is not set in stone that WWE will keep all upcoming PPV’s short. Here is what he wrote:

There is no internal doctrine right now to keep shows to a shorter length, just a decision made for this specific show. But since most took it as a positive, that could become the general rule until fans are back.

My Take:

  • I hope that WWE does keep their PPV events short moving forward. The Money in the Bank PPV was good and left me wanting more instead of feeling drained.
