Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.
5) Backstage Feeling About Why Sami Zayn Was Stripped Of His Title
According to WrestlingNews.co, the feeling backstage is that Sami Zayn was stripped of his Intercontinental Title in order to send a message.
Here is what the site reads said:
“According to a couple of WWE sources I spoke with, the feeling among some people at TV this week was that stripping Zayn of the Intercontinental Championship was done to send a message. WWE will always say that wrestlers can take time off and not worry about their spot and that certainly would apply to a top star like Roman Reigns, but for others that is not a guarantee and wrestlers in the mid and lower card certainly took notice.”
My Take:
- I still think that stripping Sami and any other Titleholder who doesn’t want to work right now is the right call. I totally respect their decisions but we don’t know how long this pandemic is going to go for and we can’t have titles not defended for months. My hope is that Sami gets another Title reign when he returns though because I was excited about his reign.
4) Superstar To Receive A Big Push On RAW
According to a report from WrestlingNews.co, Jinder Mahal is going to be receiving a big babyface push over the next several months.
This coincides with WWE’s new television deal in India and the feeling is that he is going to be pushed as a babyface. Here is what the site wrote about Jinder and WWE’s television deal in India:
This is the reason behind his recent push. Previously, when he won the WWE Title Mahal was still a heel in the United States but a babyface when he wrestled in India. This time he will be portrayed as a babyface to their entire fanbase. Also, as part of the deal, WWE will return to India at some point when travel restrictions are lifted and the idea is to have Mahal headline those shows.
The India TV deal is very important to the company and the belief is that the announcement of the new deal is what led to a stock increase in March. So if you are a fan of Jinder Mahal then you can expect to see more of him in a prominent spot on WWE TV in the coming months.
My Take:
- This definitely has me thinking that we are heading towards Jinder Mahal vs Drew McIntyre on PPV at some point for the WWE Title. It would make sense since Jinder is a former WWE Champion and has history with McIntyre from when they were in 3MB together. This seems like something that WWE will build towards over the next several months.
