Rumor Roundup: Interesting Idea Pitched For Big E, Scrapped Hell In A Cell Match, More

3) Update On Sonya Deville’s Role

Sonya Deville was recently interviewed on The Bump. During this, she spoke about the rumors of her possibly stepping back inside the ring soon.

While Sonya did tease that she will be wrestling again, she also made it clear that she will be staying in her current role as an authority figure on both RAW and Smackdown. Here is what she said:

“You know, I love what I’m doing right now. I think it’s a natural fit. I’m a leader in life, and I think it transitions well into a suit and tie. I love being in charge, so I’m content with where I am right now,”

“At the end of the day, of course, I’m a fighter, but I’m really enjoying growing and learning in this role. I don’t see an end to it anytime soon.”

My Take:

  • It would be fun to see her step back into the ring on some occasions. She could be an authority figure who sometimes chooses to get her hands dirty.

2) Another Hell In A Cell Match That Almost Happened

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens was pitched to take place inside of Hell in a Cell. Instead, WWE changed their minds and went with Bianca Belair vs Bayley instead.

Here is what Sapp said:

As of Friday morning, we were told and confirmed by WWE staff that Reigns vs. Mysterio was meant to be straight up, no frills, no goofy finish, and was not scheduled to be “run back” at Hell in a Cell. In its place, Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn in Hell in a Cell was pitched and seemed to be set for the show, but that was also changed by early Friday afternoon.

My Take:

  • Bianca Belair vs Baley was solid but I would be lying if I said I didn’t want to see Owens vs Zayn inside of the structure. Could have been amazing.
