Rumor Roundup: Idea Discussed For Edge At Wrestlemania 37, Backstage Resentment In WWE, More

3) Screen Actors Guild To Get Involved With Pro Wrestling?

Reporter Jon Alba recently spoke with the Screen Actors Guild -AFTRA president, Gabrielle Carteris. During this, she noted that she is planning to speak with wrestlers and help protect them against their employers.

Here is what she said:

“Wrestling is as much about media as it is sports, and we are going to directly engage with members of this profession to help find ways for them to protect themselves.”

“As more people reinvest in unions, as as more working people are harassed by employers who don’t want to protect them, SAG-AFTRA is committed to doing what we can to help professional wrestlers secure the protections they deserve.”

My Take:

  • WWE stars have been independent contractors for so long and have not been a part of the Screen Actors Guild. This is a big story that we will be following over the next several weeks.

2) Kane’s In-Ring Status

Kane was recently interviewed by FOX Sports. During this, he left the door open for him to return to the ring for WWE.

Here is what Kane said:

“You never say never in WWE. But, at the same point in time, I’ve gotten to the point in my life where I’m comfortable not being in the wrestling ring. It’s hard work. I’ve also gotten to the age where a lot of times I’m like, ‘Man, that looks like it hurts!’ I used to be, ‘Man, I wish I could be out there doing that!’ Now I’m kinda like, ‘Oooh golly. Those guys are a lot tougher than I am now.’ Nevertheless, if the opportunity arises … well, you know, we’ll see.”

My Take:

  • I don’t have much interest in seeing Kane back in the ring again. Love the guy but I think that he should probably hang them up.
