3) WWE Still Has Some Big Plans For Bobby Lashley
According to Tom Colohue, WWE is still planning on doing a match between Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar at some point.
He says that the plan at one point was to rebuild Lashley to get him ready for that match:
The story between Lashley and Rusev is gone, it’s simply over. So, they have got to find something new and they have got to find something new fast. So throwing in Lashley with I believe it was Zack Ryder, so they gave him a match as a way to start his rebuild. He will get more as time goes on and really help to rebuild him and establish him even further, as they move towards a match with Brock Lesnar.
That match is still very much on the cards, but it needs quite a bit of rebuilding. Lashley has moved on. They were already teasing dissension, where Lashley was getting annoyed with his new wife. That seems like the way they will go with this. We’ll see going forwards what ends up happening but the plan at this point is to rebuild Lashley, if Lana is not the right person to do that, then she will not be involved in the storyline.
My Take:
- I might be on my own on this one but I don’t have much interest to see Lashley vs Lesnar. I just don’t think that it would be a very good match but that might just be me.
2) WWE Trademark Updates On WCW & ECW PPV Names
Several months ago, WWE applied for several trademarks of old WCW & ECW PPV names. Mike Johnson of PWInsider has provided an update on some of these filings:
— Cyberslam and Hardcore Heaven will be published for opposition on March 17th.
— Barely Legal and Massacre on 34th Street will be published for opposition on March 24th.
— The following trademarks have been given an initial refusal (because they require an identification of services amendment):
- Beach Blast
- Mayhem
- Uncensored
- Greed
- Road Wild
- Capital Combat
- Hog Wild
- New Blood Rising
- Souled Out
- Sin
- CHI-Town Rumble
- World War 3
- Anarchy Rulz
- Heat Wave
- Living Dangerously
My Take:
- I see WWE using these for special episodes of RAW and Smackdown. ‘Massacre on 34th Street’ sounds perfect for a Christmas-themed episode. ‘Beach Blash’ could also be used for special Summer episode. I also see this as WWE trying to buy up all of the old PPV names before AEW can use them.
