Rumor Roundup: Current Backstage Atmosphere In WWE, RAW Women’s Title Plans, More

3) Mickie James Is NOT Injured

It was also noted by Mike Johnson of PWinsider that Mickie James is not actually injured. This was a legit concern after Mickie’s match against Asuka.

Johnson says the referee thought that Mickie might have been knocked out so he rang for the bell early. It turns out that Mickie was just doing a really good job at selling the Asuka lock:

PWInsider.com has been told by numerous sources that the decision was made to ring the bell out of concern that James might actually have been out on her feet due to the way she was selling the move.

We are told James was actually fine and just did such an excellent job of selling that she was out of it that she fooled those overseeing the match, including the referee. We have heard different versions of who called for the finish, but the decison was made that the match be stopped out of concern for James, who was actually fine.

My Take:

  • The most important thing here is that Mickie is not hurt. She was on the shelf for a year and I didn’t want to see her get injured again.

2) Jeff Hardy’s New Contract With WWE

News broke this week that Jeff Hardy has recently signed a new contract with WWE. After the news broke, there were some fans wondering if this was a short-term deal or if Jeff will be sticking around for the long-term.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Jeff’s new deal is in the 3 to 5 year range, which means that he signed long-term.

My Take:

  • I am happy for Jeff to lock down a good deal with WWE. I hope that he is able to stay healthy and out of trouble during this new deal.
