Rumor Roundup: Brock Lesnar’s Return, Plans For Summerslam, More

3) Backstage Note On Aleister Black’s Release

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has provided some backstage notes about Aleister Black’s release from WWE. Those in WWE were not given any long-term plans for Aleister’s recent feud with Big E. Many of those who were involved in this storyline didn’t know that Black was going to be released.

Here is what Sapp wrote:

Aleister Black was brought back to TV to kick off a feud with Big E, which we’re told had no long-term endgame, and many of those associated with putting together the story didn’t even know that he was being released. Recently, creative was told to stop making pitches for Black, but weren’t told why.

My Take:

  • Seems like WWE put him on TV and then quickly decided that they were going to cut him from the roster. Definitely a weird situation though as they were airing vignettes for several weeks.

2) Brock Lesnar’s Return (Part 1)

According to Dave Meltzer on the Sunday Night’s Main Event podcast, WWE is not planning Bobby Lashley vs Brock Lesnar for Summerslam. This is something that WWE fans were speculating on as a possible big match at the event.

Here is what Meltzer said:

“As of a week ago, Lesnar and Lashley was not on (the SummerSlam card). Now, it can always change. They can always call him. They can always offer him money, he will do it. Again, it’s up to Vince but they had not made the call a week ago. And I know there’s forces there that don’t want Lesnar there until it’s a feud with Reigns.”

My Take:

  • I could see WWE saving Brock Lesnar vs Bobby Lashley for Wrestlemania 38. It is definitely a big match that I am looking forward to seeing.
