Rumor Roundup: Big Matches Scrapped From Summerslam, Asuka’s Next Feud, More

1) Two Big Matches Scrapped From Summerslam

According to @Wrestlevotes, WWE has scrapped two of the top matches that they had originally planned for Summerslam. One of these matches was going to include Brock Lesnar.

Here is what the account Tweeted:

Was told this weekend the projected SummerSlam card that creative had in place a few months ago has been torn up. Edge’s injury played a big part, as well as the lack of audience – no fans means WWE has little desire to have Lesnar on the PPV. 2 major matches scrapped.

Journalist Tom Colohue added the following on Twitter, saying that the two scrapped matches were Edge vs Randy Orton III and Brock Lesnar vs Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship:

The two scrapped matches to my knowledge were the third and final Randy Orton vs Edge match and the planned rematch for the #WWE championship between Drew McIntyre and Brock Lesnar.

My Take:

  • I would do Randy Orton vs Drew McIntyre as the WWE Title match at Summerslam. I think that Orton is on fire and it is a good time to pair him up against Drew for a money feud.
