Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.
5) The Original Finish Of The ‘Eye For An Eye’ Match
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE originally had another idea for the finish of the ‘eye for an eye’ match between Seth Rollins and Rey Mysterio.
They shot another finish to make it look like Rey’s eye had completely popped out. Vince McMahon disliked it and they didn’t end up using it:
The match didn’t air live, but was not the cinematic style match as A.J. Styles vs. Undertaker or Wyatt vs. Strowman. It was in the ring and taped earlier in the day. Originally the idea was doing some sort of CGI effects for whoever was to lose the eye. They shot a sequence that would look like Mysterio’s eye popped out. But Vince McMahon hated how it looked and ordered that part edited off the final product. So they showed Rollins driving Mysterio’s eye into the ring steps, told you the eye had popped out, and left in Rollins throwing up.
My Take:
- I didn’t mind how they did it. I feel like the original way would have been too corny, so I think Vince made the right call.
4) More On The NXT Crowds
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, there have been several NXT Superstars who have refused to come into the WWE Performance Center to be a member of the crowd.
Here is what Sapp wrote:
Although conditions have improved since the initial set of tapings, some people have either outright refused to come in, or hadn’t shown up to some of the event tapings before all of the positive tests even dropped. We’re told many no-showed the back lot fight between Adam Cole and Velveteen Dream, specifically. Along the way, some NXT Talent, including Undisputed Era were asked to come in as extra noise before friends of the wrestlers were eventually brought in. Prior to that, many of the top names in NXT were exempt from even being asked to come by.
My Take:
- This is pretty interesting as I hadn’t heard anything about NXT superstars that have refused to come in. I don’t blame anybody though as your health comes first and they shouldn’t go in if they don’t feel comfortable.
