Rumor Roundup: Backstage Update On Johnny Gargano, WWE Day 1 Plans, More

1) Backstage Update On Johnny Gargano

According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select (subscribe here), Johnny Gargano is now officially a free agent:

Johnny Gargano will leave WWE and is set to become a free agent at midnight, as he and WWE did not extend his contract, Fightful Select has learned

Dave Meltzer also provided some additional notes on Gargano in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter:

“Both were given offers for new deals by WWE and neither signed the deal, although Gargano’s deal, which expired two days before the show, signed a one-week extension. Gargano will be a free agent on December 11 and then legally able to listen to and accept offers. From a legal standpoint, he could start work anywhere right after, although the indication is that he’s likely going to wait for his wife, Candice LeRae, to give birth, with the expected date being in February, before he returns to the ring.”

My Take:

  • I am just happy to see Gargano get paid. Either if it is from WWE or AEW, he is going to get a nice payday and he deserves it.
