Rumor Roundup: Backstage Perception Of Jimmy Smith On RAW Commentary, Vince McMahon Upset, More

3) Backstage Note On The ‘Diamond Mine’

Wrestling INC has provided some details about the recent vignette that aired on NXT about the ‘Diamond Mine’. They speculate that it could possibly be MMA related.

Here is what the site wrote:

We noted back in April how the vignette shows athletes using bags with the Fusion X-Cel brand name on them. Fusion X-Cel is a fitness center based out of Ocoee, Florida, which teaches adult and kids MMA, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, fitness kickboxing, group fitness, and personal training. Ocoee is just about 20 minutes from Orlando, where the WWE Performance Center is located. For what it’s worth, Fusion X-Cel also has a pro fight team with several MMA fighters under the brand – Ronoldo “Jacare” Souza, “Platinum” Mike Perry, Alex “Spartan” Nicholson, Alan “Nuguette” Patrick, Julien “J Smoove” Williams, Jorge Patino “Macaco”, Phil “Fresh Prince” Rowe, Rodolfo “Black Belt Hunter” Vieira, Jakob “Bubba” Scheffel, Rafael Souza, Ben “Killa B” Saunders, Cleveland McLean, Thiago “Bananinha” Belo, Lucas Alexander, Matt Ferraiolo, Angel Mercado, Joe “The Party” Penafiel, Rashaun Jackson, and Hannah Goldy.

There is no word on if WWE is bringing a MMA brand to NXT, or if new NXT talents will debut with some sort of fighter gimmicks. However, we should have a better idea of The Diamond Mine soon as they are now using the “Opening Soon” teaser.

My Take:

  • I am definitely intrigued to see what WWE ends up doing with this. Should be fun.

2) WWE Tells Superstar To Bulk Up

Mansoor was recently interviewed by Arab News. During this, Mansoor revealed that WWE told him that they want him to bulk up.

Here is what Mansoor said:

“I am growing, learning, and having these huge life experiences, and it is bizarre to think about how crazy this journey has been. The transition from performing on NXT to performing on RAW or SmackDown is so big. To even appear on the show once puts you in such an exclusive club so I take it as a privilege. One of the things WWE said is they would like me to put on some muscle mass, and right now I am working with Sheamus’ personal trainer, who has been really helpful. I am counting my macronutrients and calories, and recording all of my reps and sets in the gym. It is crazy how much difference writing stuff down and tracking it makes.”

My Take:

  • It does seem like WWE has some big plans for Mansoor. I am excited to watch his career develop.
