3) How Much Money WWE Offered The Young Bucks In 2019
On the Talk n Shop podcast, Matt Jackson spoke about the contract offer that The Young Bucks received from WWE in 2019.
Here is what Matt said:
“I knew the kind of money the Good Brothers were getting. Everyone else was getting like $150,000 to start. He was already offering us $500,000 each guaranteed. I’m going like, ‘What?!’. At that moment, we knew our street value. That was just the first offer.”
My Take:
- Think of how much different things would be if the Young Bucks would have taken the money. There would be no AEW and who knows how they would have faired in WWE. Seems like they definitely made the right choice.
2) Backstage Note On Wesley Blake’s Release From WWE
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, there were pitches in WWE creative to reunite Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy. They spent time together as a tag team in NXT as ‘Blake & Murphy’. This pitch came after Blake’s tag team partner, Steve Cutler, was released by WWE
These creative pitches were rejected and Blake was ultimately released from the company.
There were pitches from WWE creative to reunite Wesley Blake with Buddy Murphy following the release of Steve Maclin (Cutler) that obviously didn’t end up panning out. Throughout 2020, Blake and Maclin both worked with WWE creative to come up with additional ideas to get them back on TV.
My Take:
- I always liked Blake and Murphy as a tag team, so it could have been fun. I am a big Murphy fan, so I just hope that WWE ends up using him.
