3) Backstage Note On Shane McMahon’s WWE Departure (Part 1)
According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select (subscribe here), Shane McMahon had a lot of booking plans for the men’s Royal Rumble match. He originally wanted to book himself to enter the match in the number one spot. This is something that Vince McMahon nixed.
Here is what Sapp wrote:
Several sources have indicated that Shane McMahon specifically wanted to go on in a spot that would highlight him, with one even mentioning that he pitched the number one spot. However, we’re told that Vince McMahon personally came along and said that he’d be making changes to the match and wouldn’t be doing much of what Shane laid out.
My Take:
- I like Shane but he did not need to enter that Rumble in the first spot. He hasn’t been featured in forever. It just seems random and unnecessary.
2) Backstage Note On Shane McMahon’s WWE Departure (Part 2)
According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select (subscribe here), Brock Lesnar was not happy about Shane McMahon’s booking plans for the Royal Rumble after finding out about them.
Here is what Sapp wrote:
We’re told that when Vince McMahon learned of Shane McMahon’s plans, he wasn’t happy about them, and neither was Brock Lesnar. Shane was insistent on seeing them through, which didn’t end up happening.
My Take:
- If Brock says we aren’t doing it that way, chances are it isn’t happening.
