Rumor Roundup: Backstage Notes On Karrion Kross’ WWE Release, Finn Balor Missing RAW, More

3) Backstage Notes On Karrion Kross’ WWE Release (Part 1)

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Vince McMahon pulled Karrion Kross off television because he felt as if his gimmick wasn’t working. There were plans to bring Kross back with a new look but he ended up getting released instead.

Here is what Meltzer said:

“He had been quietly taken off TV, whatever it was a week or two ago. After the last time we saw him on TV, Vince McMahon made the call that we’re gonna take him off TV, you know where he’s doing that Demolition helmet deal that was stupid. He said this isn’t working, we need to take him off TV, we need to take him off, same with Keith Lee, we need to take him off and give him a new look. That was why I was surprised he was cut, because they were going to bring him back with a new look.”

My Take:

  • Kross’ gimmick with the helmet was definitely not working, so a change was needed. I am surprised that they let him go though.

2) Backstage Notes On Karrion Kross’ WWE Release (Part 2)

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, there were originally plans to push Karrion Kross as a big star alongside Scarlett on the main roster. This is something that never ended up happening and both were released.

Here is what Meltzer said:

“Scarlett was the deal with Kross, I don’t know why they broke them up. There was talk, among other things, that they were gonna break them up and that he was gonna go and do so-so and then she was gonna come in and then he was going to be pushed as a big star with her — that had been talked about among a million things that had been talked about and it obviously never happened.”

My Take:

  • They should have given Kross and Scarlett a chance to shine together on the main roster. Seems like a missed opportunity to not at least try it.
