3) Backstage Note On Johnny Gargano’s WWE Future (Part 1)
According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select (subscribe here), Johnny Gargano’s contract with WWE will be expiring on December 10th. This comes after he signed a one-week control extension, which will allow him to compete at Takeover: WarGames.
Here is what Sapp wrote:
Fightful has learned that Johnny Gargano has agreed to a one-week extension of his original deal, that will carry him through NXT War Games. Instead of December 3,
My Take:
- This could be a major hint that Gargano is leaving WWE. Maybe he is AEW bound? Would be another big signing for them.
2) Backstage Note On Johnny Gargano’s WWE Future (Part 2)
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Johnny Gargano is still in talks with WWE about signing a longer extension. He is also exploring his options elsewhere.
Here is what Meltzer wrote:
“Johnny Gargano signed a one-week contract extension so his deal that was to expire on 12/3 will now expire on 12/10. The key is that the next major show is 12/5 so Gargano has agreed to work through a conclusion of his current program. He is still in talks with WWE about signing a new deal, but obviously by not signing the offered deal and only signing a one-week extension, he is also willing to entertain outside offers”
My Take:
- I feel like he would be silly to not test the waters either way. I am excited to see what he ends up doing.
