Rumor Roundup: Backstage Notes On Bray Wyatt’s WWE Release, NXT Takeover Plans, More

1) Backstage Note On Bray Wyatt’s Release From WWE (Part 2)

According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select (subscribe here), talent backstage were told that Bray Wyatt was released due to budget cuts. This led to frustration from within the company, with a lot of people not believing it due to Bray’s status as a money maker.

Here is what Sapp wrote:

Talent was told that Wyatt’s release was a “budget cut,” though we don’t know if that was specifically cited to Wyatt himself. This created a gigantic amount of frustration with the roster, staff, and employees alike, with nearly 20 reaching out to Fightful directly after the release, saying there had to be more to it than that considering that he’s a known money-maker.

A consensus was that almost nobody in the company truly believed this was a budget cut, citing Wyatt’s popularity, and merchandise sales among reasons. Wyatt was well known within the company to move merchandise when he was an active performer, and several other long-time stars said that they don’t feel like their jobs are safe any longer, despite their positions on the card or prior pushes.

My Take:

  • I would agree with the talent. I am excited for when Bray does some sort of post-WWE podcast. Should be interesting to hear his side of everything.
