Rumor Roundup: Backstage Notes On Bray Wyatt’s WWE Release, NXT Takeover Plans, More

3) Backstage Note On AJ Styles

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about AJ Styles’ absence from RAW as of late.

Here is what Meltzer said:

“AJ’s got a non-injury medical issue, is what I was told. I’m sure he’s gonna yell and scream about it at some point, but that is what they said. A non-injury medical issue.”

My Take:

  • Hopefully AJ is back ASAP as I miss him on my TV each week.

2) Backstage Note On Bray Wyatt’s Release From WWE (Part 1)

According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select (subscribe here), Bray Wyatt was someone who was outspoken when he thought WWE creative was bad. There is a feeling that this may have led to his release from the company, due to Vince McMahon not liking that.

Here is what Sapp wrote:

There were numerous people backstage who said that Wyatt was outspoken when he thought creative was bad, and by the end, some felt Vince McMahon just didn’t like him due to that.

Creative was also told about some major frustration around the “burned Fiend” angle, specifically the size, weight and movement of the suit. Though Wyatt hasn’t confirmed this himself, the creative team was told that he believed it was too heavy, was going to look bad and it would be difficult to move inside it, so it was scrapped.

My Take:

  • Sounds like Bray would say the things that a lot of fans were thinking/ saying about some of the angles being bad. This ultimately led to his departure.
