Rumor Roundup: Backstage Note On WWE Passing On New AEW Talent, Ember Moon Update, More

1) Backstage Note On WWE Passing On New AEW Wrestler

According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select (subscribe here), WWE passed on signing Wheeler Yuta at a tryout several months ago. After Yuta showed up on AEW television, it led to WWE changing up their hiring practices.

Here is what Sapp wrote:

A few wrestlers and a WWE official recently told Fightful that the company passing on Wheeler Yuta after his May tryout signified a change in WWE hiring ideals to them. He’s since popped up on AEW programming.

It was also noted that many people in NXT were surprised that WWE passed on Yuta:

One NXT talent pointed out that Yuta is six feet tall, 24 years old, could already work, and had recent television experience and checked almost all of the boxes NXT had been looking for recently.

My Take:

  • After seeing him on AEW, it does seem surprising that WWE would pass on Yuta. He seems like someone who they would love.
