1) Backstage News On Andrade’s Release From WWE
According to Dave Meltzer of F4Wonline, Andrade does NOT have a non-compete clause in his release. This means that he is free to sign elsewhere immediately.
Here is what Meltzer wrote about Andrade’s release:
Sources close to the situation confirm that Andrade’s release from WWE does not include a 90-day non-compete, so he would be able to start taking dates immediately.
It was also noted by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select (subscribe here), that there is no truth to the rumors of Charlotte Flair holding out (from WWE) in order to get Andrade released:
Fans speculated that Charlotte may have “held out,” but Fightful was informed that isn’t the case.
My Take:
- My guess is that Andrade told them he is going somewhere other than AEW (like Ring of Honor). This made WWE comfortable to release him without the non-compete clause. That is the only thing that I can think of as they usually seem to enforce those clauses.
