Rumor Roundup: Backstage Issues At RAW, Two Members Of Retribution Possibly Revealed, More

1) Backstage Issues At RAW

According to a report from Gary Cassidy, Vince McMahon didn’t look at the script for RAW this week until the morning of the show. That is the reason why they didn’t announce any matches for the episode until 90 minutes before it started. This apparently has to do with a lack of leadership on the RAW creative team.

Cassidy says that there is a strong creative team that works on Smackdown and gets the show ready in a timely matter. That is not happening on the RAW side of things. Here is an excerpt from the report:

The reason? Apparently there’s a creative force driving the writing and booking of SmackDown, while there’s a lack in that department when it comes to RAW. Sportskeeda has learned that the two names spearheading the writing team for Monday nights are “not up to the task of getting the show done in time” or “getting input from talent” in a timely manner.

Cassidy also says that he was told RAW has fallen apart backstage since Paul Heyman was removed as the guy in charge of the red brand:

One major quote that stood out was, “RAW has really fallen apart without [Paul] Heyman driving the creative,” which is interesting in itself as the departure of the ECW legend from his executive role was apparently an effort to streamline the creative writing process for TV, which saw both teams consolidated.

My Take:

  • It was definitely weird that they didn’t announce any matches until so late in the day. Hopefully they are able to get it together because RAW has a lot of good talent.
