Rumor Roundup: Backstage Concern About A Rebooted ‘Nation of Domination’, New WWE Tournament Coming Soon? More

1) Backstage Concern About A Rebooted ‘Nation of Domination’

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there are a lot of people in WWE who don’t like the idea of turning MVP’s faction into a new version of the Nation of Domination. This is because of the current social climate.

Here is what Meltzer wrote:

There was an idea for the show to reform the Nation of Domination. Both Ron Simmons (who did appear on the show in a quick cameo for no reason) and Mark Henry (who was not on the show) were brought in to kickoff that angle. We don’t know if they are going to do that or if it was dropped. We do know people who thought from a real life timing situation that redoing the Nation right now would be incredibly tone deaf, so a lot did want it nixed.

My Take:

  • If they are doing a new Nation of Domination, shouldn’t they push them as a babyface faction? It seems like a disaster waiting to happen to push the faction as heels. We will have to wait and see on this one.
