Dave Meltzer spoke about WWE’s plans for Becky and Charlotte on Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here).
Meltzer says that WWE’s plan for the match at Hell in a Cell didn’t go exactly as planned in terms of crowd reaction. He says that WWE was hoping to slowly get some cheers for Charlotte with the idea that Becky screwed her over to win the Title. Here is a quote (via Ringside News):
“I can tell you this 100% I swear to god. The idea of this match was to slowly turn Charlotte babyface, yeah it was I can tell you that for sure. That was the idea.”
“They knew that Becky Lynch was going to get cheered but the idea was to slowly get it to where by the end Charlotte was the babyface and then Becky Lynch screwed her and beat her and won the title. That was the plan.”
Meltzer says that the heel reaction was supposed to be when Becky blew off the handshake at the very end of the match. There was also supposed to be some subtle heel moves throughout the match from Becky.
To go along with this, a fan in attendance says that their ‘Boo The Woo’ sign was confiscated at the event.
Make sure to take rumors with a grain of salt as always.
