Brock Lesnar appeared on Monday Night RAW this week and kicked the crap out of Rey Mysterio. Not only that, but Brock also attacked Rey’s son, Dominick.
We have a rumor to pass your way about why WWE did this angle. This rumor comes via Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.
According to Meltzer, this storyline was written with former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Cain Velasquez in mind.
Meltzer says that the idea behind it was for Brock to destroy WWE’s top Mexican star and his son. This would lead to Cain, a Mexican hero, who would eventually come to get revenge for Rey.
While Cain has not officially signed with WWE, the rumor is that this segment was done to build towards a future match between Cain and Brock down the road. They faced off before in the UFC, with Cain picking up the win.
My Take: My own theory is that Rey will be costing Brock his WWE Title match on Smackdown. This will lead to Rey vs Brock at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. I wouldn’t hate Brock vs Cain though.
