Sami Zayn defeated Braun Strowman on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW. This came after interference from both Baron Corbin and Drew McIntyre. As a result, Zayn has now replaced Strowman in the Money in the Bank ladder match on Sunday night.
We have a rumor to pass your way on why Zayn replaced Strowman. Also, some speculation on Strowman’s role at Money in the Bank.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), Braun is NOT injured. Zayn replacing him in the ladder match is strictly for storyline purposes.
The expectation is that Strowman will still play a role in the Money in the Bank ladder match, even though he has lost his spot.
Meltzer speculates that Strowman could return during the match to help one of the babyfaces (Ricochet, Ali, or Finn Balor) win.
My Take: I don’t know about helping a babyface win but I am pretty certain that we will see Braun take out the heels who attacked him on RAW. Would make sense for Braun to take out Drew McIntyre, Sami Zayn, and Baron Corbin during the match after what happened. This would free up one of the other 5 guys to win the briefcase.
What do you think Strowman will do at Money in the Bank? Let me know in the comment section.
