It has been a strong few weeks for Baron Corbin. Last week, he pinned Seth Rollins during their tag team match. This week, he pinned Ricochet and also made sure that Braun Strowman lost his spot in the Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match.
So why has WWE been building up Corbin?
Dave Meltzer provided an update on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here).
According to Meltzer, WWE is building up Corbin for a future WWE Universal Championship match against Seth Rollins. That is why he has been picking up these wins as of late.
It is worth noting that Rollins vs Corbin is currently being advertised by WWE for the Extreme Rules PPV in July.
My Take: As much as fans won’t like it, I think this rumor will end up being true. Why else would WWE have Corbin pin Seth Rollins a few weeks ago? It definitely feels like they are building towards a Corbin vs Rollins feud.
