Ricochet made his debut this week on both RAW and Smackdown Live. RAW saw him team with Finn Balor to defeat Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush. On Smackdown, Ricochet was able to defeat Eric Young of SANITY.
It was an impressive main roster debut for Ricochet and his future seems to be bright.
According to a new rumor, Ricochet was not originally planned to team with Balor on RAW this week.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), the original plans for the episode were to have Ricochet vs Finn Balor in a singles match.
It is believed that Triple H had this match changed at the last minute. There was concern about how the crowd would react to two babyface characters. Triple H reportedly also didn’t want either losing as Balor had just won the Intercontinental Title and Ricochet was making his main roster debut.
My Take: As a fan of both Balor and Ricochet, I am happy they didn’t have them face off on the episode. That seems like it could be a fun PPV match down the road. I think they made the right call as Ricochet’s debut on RAW turned out to be fun and it was a good showcase for him anyways.
