Rumor On The Original Plans For Asuka At Wrestlemania 35

One of the biggest question marks right now in WWE has to do with Asuka and who she will defend her Smackdown Women’s Championship against at Wrestlemania 35. With Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch involved in the RAW Women’s Championship feud, things are wide open for the Women of the blue brand.

We have a rumor to pass your way on the orignal plans for Asuka at Wrestlemania 35.

This rumor comes via Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here).

According to Meltzer, there had been some talk of WWE doing Asuka vs Lacey Evans for the Smackdown Women’s Championship at Wrestlemania. That is now being reconsidered. Here is a quote (via WrestlingNews.co):

“As far as Asuka goes, I mentioned the thing with Lacey Evans last night. There actually was talk of Asuka and Lacey Evans being the WrestleMania match and it was definitely on the books at one point. But I was let to believe that it was being reconsidered and that it was not a 100 percent ‘no’ and it could happen but it was actually on the books and the point is that it’s not a 100 percent ‘yes’ and it may be more than likely ‘no.’

My Take: I do think that Lacey is going to be pushed to the moon by WWE. I just think that it is too early for her. I don’t know if it is the smartest idea to push her right into a big match like that. WWE did tease this match on Smackdown this week, so it will be interesting to see if Lacey vs Asuka does end up happening.
