In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), Dave Meltzer provided some details about the paydays for the WWE shows in Saudi Arabia.
Specifically, Meltzer says that Goldberg made some major money for his match against the Undertaker.
Goldberg apparently made more than $1 million for the match. Here is what Meltzer wrote:
If you’re wondering about the special guest Saudi Arabian payoffs, they are well into seven figures. At least Goldberg got well into seven for the match with Undertaker. Goldberg’s figure for the one match was considerably more than his one year contract when he came to WWE in 2003-04 ($1 million downside for eight dates per month), but less than his WCW contract ($3 million per year) when he was at his peak.
As noted prior, Paul Heyman is potentially looking to use Goldberg as a special attraction for the next little while.
My Take: More than $1 million for a match sounds like the dream to me. It is crazy how much WWE seems to make from these shows in Saudi Arabia and explains why they keep going back.
