Over the weekend, Trish Stratus vs Alexa Bliss was officially announced for WWE’s upcoming Evolution event. The match was confirmed via WWE’s website and social media pages.
We have a rumor to pass your way about the backstage reaction to how WWE handled this announcement.
According to Brad Shepard on Barn Burner’s Fired Up podcast, there was some backstage disappointment about the way that WWE announced the news. Here is a quote (via Ringside News)
“Interestingly enough, Joe, I was talking with a source in WWE this week and they were mentioning how a lot of people internally within the company were not happy with how WWE broke the news that Trish Stratus would be returning in a match against Alexa Bliss at Evolution.
And the feedback was that you’ve got one of the greatest of all time female wrestler in the WWE, a Hall of Famer, coming out of retirement after years [and] she was one of the hottest acts in her prime and they should have made this a big deal, they should have let this play out. Instead, it was just kinda dropped like it was no big deal. That has some people upset in the company”
