Dolph Ziggler interrupted the Miz TV segment involving Shawn Michaels on Smackdown Live this week. The segment saw Ziggler and Michaels take some shots at one another. This included Ziggler ripping into Michaels for his return match at WWE Crown Jewel last year.
This ultimately led to Ziggler superkicking Michaels to close the segment.
We have a rumor to pass your way about the segment. Specifically, about Ziggler taking a shot at Michaels’ return to the ring.
According to a report from Sports Illustrated, it was Michaels himself who pitched the idea for Ziggler to use his match in Saudi Arabia against him. Here is an excerpt from the report:
Michaels, who was originally slated to do color commentary on the show, advocated for Ziggler to use the line slamming his 2018 return, Sports Illustrated has learned. A long-time supporter of Ziggler’s work, Michaels even took a superkick to end the segment.
My Take: This was exactly how WWE should have used some of the legends on Monday night. Use them in segments to help enhance certain feuds and Superstars. I know some fans have pitched a Michaels vs Ziggler match but I don’t see it happening. This was just a way to put over Ziggler as a heel.
